The rhythm that keeps the plan alive

Quarterly and annual planning · Business coaching for design and construction owners

Plans do not fail at the writing stage. They fail in month four, when everyone is busy and nobody has looked at them since. Facilitated sessions with your leadership team keep the plan in front of them, every ninety days and once a year.

What keeps a plan alive

The fix is not a better document. It is a rhythm: a regular day on which your leadership team looks at the plan again, honestly, and decides what happens next.

That is what these sessions are. They are one of my training programs, which build something specific into your business, a system, a skill or a way of operating, so that it is still there when the program ends. Here the thing built in is the planning rhythm.

How the quarterly and annual sessions run

Every ninety days I facilitate a full day with your leadership team. The day runs in this order.

  1. Review the last quarter honestly

Your leadership team and I look at the last quarter as it really went.

  2. Reset priorities

The team decides what matters most for the next ninety days.

  3. Commit to what happens next

The day ends with commitments about what happens next, so the plan is not left unread until month four.

Once a year there is a longer session, and its purpose is to set direction.

Who it is for, and who it is not for

Planning sessions are for you if

  • You have graduated from the Self-Sustaining Business Program, whose first quarterly planning session is included, and want to keep going every ninety days
  • You are a former advisory client who has stepped back from the monthly relationship but wants to keep the rhythm
  • You have a leadership team and want them in the room together

Planning sessions are not for you if

  • You want someone watching the business between sessions. That is the Master Plan Program
  • You have not worked with Eric before and want to know where the business stands. Start with the Business Health Check

Where planning fits

Here is how planning connects to the rest of the work.

  • Business Health CheckThe entry point. A Report Card across the eight fundamentals and a Roadmap show where the business stands.
  • The Self-Sustaining Business ProgramThe big build, in eight or sixteen weeks. Your first quarterly planning session is included, and this page picks up from there.
  • Master Plan ProgramThe ongoing option. I own your plan and stay with it between conversations, and quarterly 90-day and annual planning is part of it.

What a planning session costs

Quarterly and annual planning is $3,500 to $5,000 per session. To find out where in that range your session would fall, book a planning session and I will talk it through with you.

Book a planning session

Tell Eric which session you are asking about and who would be in the room. He will come back to you personally.

Who are the planning sessions for?

Eric offers them to graduates of the Self-Sustaining Business Program, and to former advisory clients who have stepped back from the monthly relationship but want to keep the rhythm. If you have not worked with Eric before, the Business Health Check is the place to start.

Is planning included in the Self-Sustaining Business Program?

Your first quarterly planning session is included in the Self-Sustaining Business Program, which costs $25,000. After that, most clients keep Eric coming back every ninety days, and this page is for those sessions.

How is this different from the Master Plan Program?

The Master Plan Program is an ongoing relationship in which someone is watching the business between conversations, and it includes quarterly 90-day and annual planning. A planning session is for owners who have stepped back from that monthly relationship but want to keep the rhythm.
